Beach Park – Today, Lake County Board Member Diane Hewitt announced she has been endorsed by the Sierra Club for re-election to continue serving district 8.
“I am thankful for the confidence the Sierra Club has expressed in my service through their endorsement,” said Hewitt. “Since day one, protecting our environment and the public health of everyone in our community is very important to me.”
Hewitt has been a strong advocate on the Lake County Board for protecting our natural resources and ensuring residents have access to enjoyable public lands.
She has established the first forest preserve trail and dog park at the Waukegan Savannah, consistently voted to preserve our open spaces and worked to ensure Lake County governmental departments are using cost efficient green technology.
Hewitt also knows the threat posed by the move to expand the Waukegan airport and destroy 52 acres of natural land and increase noise pollution as a consequence.
“As an elected official, it is my responsibility to take a firm stand on issues, particularly ones as important as this,” said Hewitt. “I will always do what is right for our community and I want everyone to know my position.”
The 8th county board district includes parts of Beach Park and Waukegan.
